This is a short post to point you to the new Impactful Videos page here on the site. I’m collecting a bunch of videos that really help people understand the dangers of sharing information online.

But Why Do This Micah?
Reason is very clear to me. I talk to a lot of people that don’t understand the impact of posting pics of their kids or revealing their geolocation in a social media post. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve heard people say “but I have nothing to hide” or “but no one would bother with me. I’m no one” and don’t understand how wrong they could be.
Now, please understand that I know that most people will have no bad outcomes from posting images and videos and text in their social media accounts. I’ve also come in contact with some people who I’ve heard say “I wish I hadn’t posted that. I had no idea that…”.
Awareness and understanding what could be done is the first step in changing behaviors. Knowing that touching a hot stove will burn you may change your behavior around hot stoves. Consider the videos on that page a big social media “hot stove” that shows what could be done, in safe, educational and fun videos.
